Archaic/dialectal: to suckle or nurse, historically used for a young goat (choto) nursing from its mother — desusado in modern standard Spanish. In Puerto Rico, unrelated regional slang uses it for hitting the big stick in the game of tala.
Expecting chotar to be current, everyday vocabulary — dictionaries mark it desusado (obsolete); mamar is what modern speakers actually use for nursing/suckling.
Often confused with mamar.
