autoubicarse

Used for people locating or positioning themselves geographically (via GPS or otherwise), and, quite commonly in political and social contexts, for someone identifying their own position on a spectrum — se autoubica como centrista, de izquierda.

• La aplicación permite autoubicarse en el mapa en tiempo real. — The app lets you locate yourself on the map in real time.
• En la encuesta, la mayoría se autoubicó en el centro político. — In the survey, most people placed themselves in the political center.
• Le costaba autoubicarse dentro de esa nueva clasificación. — He found it hard to place himself within that new classification.

In the political or social sense it's about self-identification on a scale, not literal geography — don't assume it always refers to GPS location.
