A regional word with two distinct senses depending on the dialect: in Catalan-influenced speech (and as a loan into some Spanish varieties) it means to stop or halt something, while in Aragonese usage it means to endure or put up with — no lo aturo, closer to no lo aguanto.
Expecting aturar to mean the same thing everywhere — its "stop" sense (Catalan-influenced) and its "endure/put up with" sense (Aragonese) don't overlap, so the region matters for understanding it correctly.
Often confused with aguantar.
