Almost always used in its reflexive form, atarearse — to be busy or absorbed in a task. Atareado, the related adjective ("busy, swamped"), is far more common in everyday speech than either verb form; the plain transitive atarear (to keep someone busy with work) is much rarer.
Only ever encountering the adjective atareado/a and not recognizing that it comes from the reflexive verb atarearse — they're the same family, but a learner may not connect estoy atareado to a verb they could also conjugate directly.
