to land on the moon
To land on the Moon — a verb built the same way as aterrizar (to land, from tierra) but swapping in luna. It entered everyday Spanish vocabulary with the Apollo missions and is now the standard word for any spacecraft's lunar landing.
Using aterrizar for a Moon landing — Spanish keeps the two verbs distinct by destination (tierra vs. luna), so a spacecraft alunizes on the Moon and aterrizes on Earth.
