ahorcajarse

To straddle something, sitting or standing with a leg on each side — ahorcajarse en una rama, ahorcajarse sobre el caballo. A fairly uncommon but not archaic verb, mostly describing someone perched astride a branch, wall, or animal.

• El niño se ahorcajó en la rama más baja del árbol. — The boy straddled the lowest branch of the tree.
• Se ahorcajó sobre la valla para ver mejor. — He straddled the fence to get a better view.
• El jinete se ahorcajó sobre el caballo de un salto. — The rider straddled the horse in one jump.

Reaching for ahorcajarse in casual conversation — montar or the fixed phrase sentarse a horcajadas (the more common way to say the same thing) are what most speakers actually use.
