braire

To bray, the specific sound a donkey makes (l'âne brait). Informally, also used — often mockingly — for a person crying, wailing, or complaining loudly, similar to brailler.

• L'âne braillait — non, brayait — dans le pré. — The donkey was braying in the field.
• Arrête de braire pour un simple bobo ! — Stop wailing over a little scrape!
• On entendait l'âne braire de loin. — You could hear the donkey braying from far away.

Braire is irregular and defective (missing many conjugated forms) — it's mostly used in the third person (il brait, ils braient); a learner won't find or need a full conjugation table the way they would for regular verbs.
