A reflexive verb meaning to wash one's hands of something, to disclaim responsibility or feign lack of interest/knowledge — desentenderse de un problema. Stem-changing like entender: me desentiendo, not *me desentendo.
It always needs "de" before its object (desentenderse de algo) — dropping the preposition, as an English speaker translating "to disregard something" directly might, sounds wrong in Spanish.
Often confused with entender.
