chamullar

Lunfardo (Buenos Aires/Río de la Plata slang) for smooth, persuasive talk — sweet-talking, chatting someone up, or spinning a line: le chamulló toda la noche para conseguir su número. Often carries a whiff of insincerity, like the English 'sweet-talk' or 'schmooze,' though it can also just mean casual chat depending on tone.

• Le chamulló un rato hasta que le dio su teléfono. — He sweet-talked her for a while until she gave him her number.
• No me chamulles, decime la verdad. — Don't sweet-talk me, tell me the truth.
• Sabe chamullar bien, por eso vende tanto. — He knows how to talk a good game, that's why he sells so much.

Using chamullar outside the Río de la Plata region and expecting it to be understood — hablar or ligar/conquistar are the widely understood equivalents elsewhere. Note also that chamuyar (with y) is the far more common modern spelling of this same word.
