A regional, fairly rare verb with two unrelated senses: in music, for a violin or similar bow instrument to make a harsh, scraping sound instead of a clean note (el violín cerdeó en esa nota), and in some dialects, colloquially, to act like a coward or back out of something at the last moment. A niche word a learner is unlikely to need actively.

Assuming cerdear relates to cerdo (pig) — despite the visual similarity, it's unrelated; the word comes from cerda (bristle/horsehair, as in a violin bow's hair).
