bolver

An obsolete spelling of volver (to return), reflecting an older pronunciation/orthography where b and v alternated more freely before spelling was standardized. You'll meet it only in older texts, dialect transcriptions, or deliberately archaic/rustic-sounding dialogue — modern Spanish always writes volver.

• El texto antiguo dice 'bolver a casa' en vez de 'volver a casa'. — The old text says 'bolver a casa' instead of 'volver a casa'.
• Algunos hablantes rurales aún pronuncian volver con un dejo de bolver. — Some rural speakers still pronounce volver with a hint of the old bolver.
• En la novela histórica, el autor usa bolver para dar sabor de época. — In the historical novel, the author uses bolver for period flavor.

Using bolver in ordinary modern writing simply reads as a misspelling — always use volver outside a deliberate historical or dialectal effect.
