arregostarse

A colloquial, regional verb (especially heard in the Canary Islands and Murcia) meaning to develop a taste or fondness for something, to get hooked on doing it — close to engolosinarse. It usually implies the habit formed after a first, enjoyable experience.

• Se arregostó a comer dulces todos los días. — He got into the habit of eating sweets every day.
• Nos arregostamos a caminar por la playa al atardecer. — We got into the habit of walking on the beach at sunset.
• Una vez que se arregosta al café, ya no lo deja. — Once he gets a taste for coffee, he doesn't give it up.

Using arregostarse expecting it to be understood everywhere in the Spanish-speaking world — it's a regionalism; engancharse or aficionarse a are the widely understood equivalents outside those areas.
