An archaic/dialectal variant of creer ('to believe'), found today mainly in older texts or some rural Latin American speech. Modern standard Spanish uses creer in every context where acreer might appear.
Using acreer in modern writing or conversation — it will read as a spelling mistake of creer to virtually every contemporary reader, since the form has fallen out of standard use.
Often confused with creer.
