dégrouper

To split apart something previously grouped together — items, a shipment, or in French telecom vocabulary, a subscriber's phone line from the incumbent operator's network (dégroupage was the everyday word for local-loop unbundling during the 2000s ADSL boom).

• Le grossiste dégroupe la commande en plusieurs colis. — The wholesaler splits the order into several packages.
• Cette ligne téléphonique a été dégroupée par un opérateur concurrent. — This phone line was unbundled by a competing operator.
• On peut dégrouper ces deux tâches pour aller plus vite. — These two tasks can be split apart to go faster.

Outside telecom jargon, this is a fairly technical/administrative word — regrouper (to group together) is the far more common everyday verb, and dégrouper is really just its narrow opposite.
