comparoir

Comparoir is an archaic, now essentially obsolete synonym of comparaître (to appear in court) — a defective verb (conjugated only in a few forms, mostly the infinitive) that survives today only in old legal texts and dictionaries.

• Autrefois, on disait qu'un accusé devait comparoir devant ses juges. — In the past, people said an accused had to appear before his judges.
• Ce verbe, comparoir, ne s'emploie plus que dans les textes juridiques anciens. — This verb, comparoir, is now used only in old legal texts.
• Comparoir a été progressivement remplacé par comparaître. — Comparoir was gradually replaced by comparaître.

There's no real modern mistake to flag since comparoir is obsolete — the only genuine trap is using it at all instead of the standard modern verb, comparaître.
